NEW YORK (USA)

New York: officially the City of New York , otherwise known as the names and abbreviations of New York City or NYC, is the largest city in the United States and one of the most important American continent. It is located in the northeastern United States, on the Atlantic coast in the south-eastern tip of New York State . The New York City consists of five boroughs called boroughs : Manhattan, Brooklyn , Queens, the Bronx and Staten Island. Its inhabitants are called New Yorkers.

Between 1785 and 1790 , the city of New York was the capital of US . It is the largest city in the country since 1790 , before feeding for a few decades the financial and political rivalry between New York and Philadelphia.
New York exerts a significant impact on global commerce, finance, media, art , fashion, research, technology, education and entertainment. Gathering all the characteristics of a global city, it is sometimes considered the " capital of the world " . If it is not the capital of the United States for more than two sièclesnotes 1, New York is not least the country's most populous city, with 8,336,697 inhabitants according to the Census Bureau of the United States (2012 )  . New York is one of the most cosmopolitan cities in the world , with its many ethnic neighborhoods . The best known are Little Italy or Chinatown , which includes the highest concentration of Chinese population Amériques .

New York welcomes about 50 million visitors annuels . Times Square, iconified as " the Crossroads of the World"  , is the hub of entertainment in the whole country and the theater district Broadway , one of the most populaires intersections and a major center of the entertainment industry in the world . The city has a large number of bridges , skyscrapers and parks renowned mondiale . The financial district of New York, anchored by Wall Street in Lower Manhattan , functions as the "Financial Capital of the World " and is home  Stock Exchange and New York its future financial center One World Trade Center. In addition, the Manhattan real estate market is among the most expensive in the monde .
Finally , New York hosts institutions of global importance. These include the UN headquarters , but also many seats multinationales and cultural centers such as the Metropolitan Museum, the Brooklyn Museum , MoMA , Lincoln Center . Many famous universities are located in New York, including the University of the City of New York, Columbia University , New York University , and Rockefeller , which are classified among the top 50 universities in the University world.
