THAILAND

Thailand: officially the Kingdom of Thailand, is a country in Southeast Asia whose territory covers 514,000 km2. Before 1939 it was called the Kingdom of Siam. It is bordered to the west by Burma, south by Malaysia, to the east by Cambodia and northeast by Laos . It is a constitutional monarchy since 1932.
Its capital is Krung Thep (  the City of Angels ) , also known as Bangkok. The official language is Thai baht and the currency .
King Rama IX , the ninth of the Chakri dynasty, ruled the country since 1946 , longevity record at the head of the country in thaïlandaise1 history. Constitutional monarch , the king is officially titled Head of State , Chief of the Armed Forces , a supporter of the Buddhist religion and defender of all faiths .
The country ranks 51 countries in order of area ( 514,000 km2) and the 19th most populous country in the world with 66,720,153 people in 2011 , a number of area and very close to those of metropolitan France inhabitants .
Approximately 75 % of the population is ethnic Thai , 14% Chinese , and 3% malais2 , the rest being composed of minority groups: Mons , Khmers and various hill tribes . The main religion is Buddhism , practiced by approximately 95 % of Thais .
Thailand experienced rapid economic growth between 1985 and 1995. This is a newly industrialized , thanks to tourism, with well-known as the Ayutthaya country park tourist destinations , the seaside resort of Pattaya , the capital Bangkok, Phuket Province , the coastal town of Krabi and Koh Samui.
